Celebrating impact in construction

This award recognizes an architectural firm that has created brilliant architecture and demonstrated their awareness of modern regulations, statutory requirements, and solutions. Judges will assess the practice’ planning expertise, client satisfaction, and that their projects are finished on time and within budget.  Firms will demonstrate great depth and breadth in their work, collaborative environment, and ability to consistently address the future of architecture whilst honoring its traditions.

This category is open to companies with an office in South Africa and will be assessed for services delivered during the period of February 2024 to February 2025.

In this category, judges will be looking for evidence of contribution to projects, innovation, quality of work and excellent safety record, representing the construction industry in a positive way.  The winner will have shown how it is successfully driving its vision and mission.

This category is open to companies with an office in South Africa and will be assessed for services delivered during the period of Feb 2024 to Feb 2025.

The judges will be looking for an outstanding residential project in South Africa that demonstrates an innovative approach to the overall strategy of the development. The project must be completed during the period of Feb 2022 to Feb 2025.

Eligible project types: single or multiple family homes, apartment complexes, high rise buildings for the purpose of providing dwellings, retirement homes and apartment buildings.

Joint submissions from Consultants, Architects, Contractors, Engineers, developers, Project owners, etc. will be accepted.

Judges will assign scores based on how well the submission meets the criteria listed below.

c. Quality of construction and finishes

d. Sustainability and green practices

e. Community impact

f. Financial viability and market impact

Judges will look for outstanding commercial developments in South Africa where an innovative approach to the strategy of the development has been taken. The criteria for success are based not only on quality and innovation but also on evidence demonstrating a sensible use of budget while satisfying the client brief. The project must be completed during the period of Feb 2022 to Feb 2025.

Eligible project types: hotels, retail, leisure facilities, mixed-use, office buildings

This category focuses on how digital tools have been successfully implemented on a specific construction project. The award celebrates an organization that is using technology at the forefront of their projects and is implementing digitalization in their current project. 

Judges will assign scores based on how well the submission meets the criteria listed below.   

a. Evidence of a strong focus on innovation and successful digital transformation implementation   

b. Collaboration: The organization must prove client and cross-team collaboration, how people were at the heart of the project, project goals, results, successful use of data and reporting and how any challenges were overcome.

This award category recognizes outstanding engineering consultancy firms that have not only excelled in delivering innovative and timely solutions to engineering problems but have also demonstrated a commitment to their clients' success, business development achievements, knowledge sharing, staff retention, recruitment initiatives, education programs, responsible care, and community projects. The winning firm will showcase its ability to drive its vision and mission while contributing significantly to the field of engineering consultancy.

An award made for an infrastructure project in South Africa, of any size or type that made an important contribution to its surroundings and demonstrated best construction practice. The project must be completed from Feb 2021 to Feb 2025.   

Eligible project types: transport, metro railway, highways, roads, bridges, civil and structural engineering projects, drainage schemes, public realm works and master planning.
